A Place for Everything...

... & Everything in it's Place!

If you're like me, then you have tons of odd-end jewelry without a place to put everything.  I have been on the hunt for DIY jewelry holders & I think I have found some good ways to keep all of your jewelry organized & easy to find...

A simple open wall mirror...

I love this! I have so many chunky statement necklaces, it is hard to keep them all from intertwining.  I love the idea of a head of a rake to display your finest treasures...

Knobs on a cork board!  Find a yard of your favorite fabric, adhere to the back of a cork board, trim  with statement color ribbon, & screw in your favorite drawer pulls & knobs...

Storing earrings in an organized manner is far from an easy feat, but once again, now you can display your favorite pieces simply by using an old decorative frame & attaching strips of crochet. The woven holes within the crochet are perfect for dropping off a pair of earrings or even weaving drop chain necklaces through...

The most simple transformation yet!  Pick your favorite color in paint & purchase a cheese grader...

Having trouble envisioning yourself putting together one of these DIY projects?  Here, step by step, we show you how easy it can be done...

How are you storing your jewelry & those distinct, hard to store accessories?

Architectural Trends: MN Style...

This last weekend, a girlfriend & I decided we would check out the Twin Cities Luxury Home Tour.  We perused the beautifully decorated & architecturally unique homes & noticed one common trend throughout: Earth tones & natural features.  It is a sense of style that comes so easily to us Minnesotans & I have always loved the idea of bringing the outdoors, indoors.

One architectural trend that I am absolutely loving is, exposed beams...

The building trend screams original, natural, & gives and overall 'homey' feel to a space...

Although I love the natural log beams strategically placed within the faulted ceilings, I am really starting to enjoy the look of clean, crisp beams with a natural wood panel finish...

Whichever colors you choose to finish the beams, I have found that opposing colors allows the beams to pop from the wood panelling, giving the room a much more dramatic natural feature...

If you haven't been to the Luxury Home Tour I suggest you go!  There is one weekend left & I am dying to hear what others think about the homes!

Emulate Fashionista Style...

One question that I often get asked is, What fashionistas inspire my style?  When I first started blogging, I posted about my adoration for Olivia Palermo's classic street style.  She continues to marvel me with her crisp trends & clean style.

Here are some of my more recent favorite summer styles of Olivia's...

Every look has 1 or 2 focal points of the entire style.  When people ask how you even begin emulating a fashion icon's style, I always start at the focal point & the rest I try to make my own unique personal style.  I will teach you how to follow your own favorite fashionista's style...

First, Find the Focal Point of the Overall Outfit:
(i.e. What are your eyes drawn to?)

Now, build a look around that piece.  This first picture is a more casual street style,  possibly intended for morning errands & coffee.  Dress up this easy going style, with a chunky statement necklace & keep the rest of the outfit simple:

When I saw this next picture, I immediately was drawn to Olivia's scalloped shorts:

Since this was more of formal chic style, keep the fabrics that you choose that way as well.  Stick to silk or chiffon, something with a sheer finish.  Then, dress up your accessories & it will tie the entire look together.

Without a doubt, I was immediately drawn to Olivia's bright blazer & less dramatic color blocking style. A stylish look, intended for a flashy night out.

Reproducing this style is always my favorite, because you almost cannot go wrong.  Like I have said before adding colors to your night time look, is not only chic but very mod.  It is a fun look to play around with, because not only are you able to block different brights, but you are also able to mix & match different fabrics & accessories!

One summer style that I have not spent as much time blogging about, but I absolutely adore, is patterned blouses!  The ornate structure is perfect for summer & bring personality to your overall look.

Play around with patterns.  See which patterns look best on you.  Do you like florals, animal print, dots & stripes, etc...?  Choose a pattern that brings you to life & add pops of color for accessories!

Now that I have shared my obsession love for Olivia & how I try to emulate her street style, I am dying to hear who you all love as your fashionista?!

Love For Your Papa's...

There's a very special bond between a father & a daughter...

The meaningful link of pure adoring love that a dad provides a daughter is what every woman wholeheartedly wishes to find in her future husband...

A link of love that will stand the test of time...

...and never be replaced but hopefully someday matched :)

Happy Father's Day Pa!  I know you will read this & I hope you understand how much I truly appreciate  your love, guidance, & support throughout my life.

Never Ending Color Blocking...

I cannot get enough color blocking!!  I am loving the bold bright colors adorned with simple accessories for summer!!  The trend is refreshing & entertaining & perfect for bright summer days. Here are a few color trends on the runway...

Teal-Tangerine-Violet

& on celebrities...

& in real life...

& now on you!  I put a couple looks together for you to try...

Again, keep the accessories simple, I especially enjoy gold...

Here are some new color blocking palettes that I put together for you that I am also loving...

My 3 main suggestions for pulling off this look would be:
1. Keep the bold colors to 3 max
2. Pair simple jewelry
3. Use at least 1 dramatic feature
(i.e. a large gold plate belt like in the first picture or a triple breasted shoulder pad adorned blazer in the last picture)

Rainy Hump Day Humor...

Another Rainy Day Here in MN...

Once in awhile, rainy days are convenient during the summer. They are an excuse to stay inside & catch up on work, catch up on sleep, or if you're like me, catch up on surfing the web for gorgeous new trends!

The two things in my life that I could not possibly live without would be inspirational pretty things & laughter & since I find almost anything that is stupid, funny, I thought I would share with you a couple things that made me giggle this week...

I am not quite sure why, I am going to assume because it is purely childish so ridiculously dumb, but this picture always makes me laugh...

And the only reason I posted this picture is because when I searched these shoes, the title came up as:

"Lady Boner"

So true figuratively speaking.. these shoes are amazeballs!

I hope this post found you in good spirits on this happy hump day!!

Sweet Delights....

Over the weekend, a close family friend of ours, married her long-time 'sweetie' & it was a beautiful outdoor ceremony.  Upon arrival of the reception, I could not have been more thrilled to stumble upon the Candy Buffet!  I have noticed more & more weddings adding this lovely element to their reception & it makes a sweet tooth lover like me, nothing short of excited!

The best part about adding this feature is that you are able to customize your candy buffet setting to whatever color theme you are working with! Add some different shaped serving bowls, mix in your favorite colored treats & adorn the table with a "Love is Sweet" statement & you will find most of your guests in pure delight!!

I was trying to think of some other fun way to bring some 'treats' to the reception besides the wedding cake itself.  These individual flavored shooters are tasty, unique & a fun twist on dessert...

Or go classic with simple milk & cookies!! (Add a touch of homemade class by using an old handed down family cookie recipe!!)

This was one of my favorites!! What a fun idea!!  A Smores Buffet!!

What other sweet delights have you experienced at a wedding or would like to incorporate within your wedding?
