Hair Issues...

So I am totally loving the 'Ombre Hair'- Look... but I am afraid not enough people will understand it if I try it?  Coming back from a sunny vacation, the sun completely bleached out my hair leaving about a 2 inch margin of what used to look natural now look skunky. I have been wanting to try the Ombre look, but I am hesitant to take the final leap.  What are your thoughts about the look?  To some the style is intended to look 'mis-cared' for/ 'I'm-so-busy-I-don't-have-time-to-dye-my-roots-&-I'm-super-confident-with-my-2-toned-look' and to others it just looks 'lazy' & 'dirty' (literally my mommas words for it).  But I kind of am adoring how cheeky chic it is...!? I think it is a fun new twist for us girls that want the best of both worlds (blonde & brunette)!!  My only fear is not being able to pull off the look & looking like a dirty hick...

But this style is perfect!  I think her hair looks intentionally flawed to perfection...

Drew Barrymore's is a bit extreme for me.  Although I like how it fades to blonde, a little more subtle transition might be better suited for a girl like me...

So, the Ombre Look was intended for a couple reasons... First of all, it was supposed to be a chic way for women to grow out their natural colored hair & not have to worry about fixing their roots.  Basically your hair stylists applies color to part where the 2 tones meet so that they blend better & gradually fade. Some apparently ask to have their ends lightened even more, but the main point is that basically the ends of your hair are already fried from being bleached out.. i.e.. Rachel Bilson...

THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING FOR!! I love this look... not to extreme, yet still pretty sassy.. perfection...

What are your thoughts on the Ombre Hair? I would love to hear your opinions.. good or bad!!

Revamp Your Workspace...

Rid yourself of monotony & get out from behind your desk... to go get key simple pieces to bring life & inspiration to your work area!  Start fresh by ridding yourself of clutter & begin with a clean slate...

For so many of us, the routine of sitting behind our desks all day leaves us lethargic & unenthused!  Try adding a couple dominant features to your work area & watch your attitude change & your motivation be regained!  Start by adjusting your office space to accommodate as much natural lighting as possible!  Add basic drapery if you have the means & spruce up any office space with decorative window treatments...

For most people, the luxury of windows or even a pocket of outdoor light is unheard of, so let's work with what we have!  Bring a lamp to add new lighting to your space.  A fun new lamp camp bring light to any dull work space & if you already have a lamp, try switching out the light bulb for a softer, more subtle & relaxed luminescence...

Give your tush some lovin' & replace your basic office chair!  If a standard chair is required within your office, add some vibrancy to your space with a patterned cushion.  If you are not required to have a standard chair, I highly suggest a chic pattern of a modern day winged-back chair! YOU be the Queen of YOUR office...

Another way to bring life & light to a featureless work space would be a character rug!  Bright colors, bold patterns, small, big,  frills or matte.. find a way to bring out your unique style with a simple area rug for your office...

If all of these ideas seems impractical & unfeasible to you right now, start small.  It is amazing what a vase of fresh flowers can do for any space!  Go to your local farmers market & sniff away to find the flower that makes you say, "Ahhhh :)"  My absolute favorite flowers are Peonies & I cannot wait until they are in season! All of my spaces will be covered in different shades of Peonies!  If your office has rules about scents & people allergic, go with fake flowers.  They may seem dull,  but liven them up by placing them in a mason jar, with different stones, & a bow adorned around the jar!

My ultimate favorite thing to do to revamp my office space is to create and inspiration board of 'things' I am loving right this moment!  Whether it was an advertisement of an awesome pair of heels that I tore out of a magazine while waiting at the Dentists office, or a pattern that excited me while at a fabric store... every bit of inspiring happiness that I come across gets tacked to my inspiration board behind my desk!  Try one for yourself, you cannot go wrong with this, in fact, I change mine out when I no longer am inspired by those things! What inspires you...?

Fact of the matter is, do not get stuck in a monotonous routine of black & white in your office space! Everyone deserves to find some daily inspiration & add life to their work space!

I would love to see how you all keep your work spaces full of life & light! Email MissCheekyChic@gmail.com a photo of your individual work space for a chance to win a complimentary consultation for a Closet Revamp with Miss Cheeky Chic herself!

Ray of Sunshine...

I want to first apologize for my absence & also thank you all for being so patient while I was away.  I took a much needed vacation & am feeling much more gathered & relaxed as we roll into spring (knock on wood- NO MORE SNOW).

It is crazy how sometimes getting away for a little vacation can help guide you towards many inspiring endeavors.  The one thing that I appreciated so much while I was away, was getting to wake up to sunshine every.singe.day! We were blessed with amazing weather & the vitamin d that us Minnesotans have been craving!

It got me thinkin... how could I incorporate that bright-liven-the-soul-light-hearted-happiness to my every day mornings in Minnesota, even if I wouldn't be waking up in 70 degree weather?  Ohhh the simplicity of adding a touch of golden daffodil will do the trick...

I am absolutely loving touches yellow in the bedroom!  It wakens the space & adds life to, lets say, a rented property where painting your walls is not an option...

Golden features mixed with a subtle yellow give your bedroom space an authentic royalty feel without being over the top...

This barn door is unreal! It is the perfect dramatic feature to make a distinction between two rooms...

Lusting over this headboard!! So simple, yet so chic...

This room is a littttttle too matchy-matchy for my personal tastes, but I am adoring crisp whites right now & those vaulted ceilings were to die for. Couldn't pass this one up...

I have a DIY project that involves building your own unique headboard, that I will post later this week. I am obsessed, completely enamored, in love with this handmade head board...

Thanks for being so patient while I was absent! I feel replenished with all sorts of new inspiration that I hope rubs off on you all!!

Your Unique Style...

To say I am the 'Black Sheep' of my family would be a little dramatic, but I would comfortably say that I am the black sheep when it comes to a difference in style among my sisters & mom.  Do not get me wrong, they have excellent style, but I definitely have a much more bold look to my style.

So my little sister asked me to 'help her out a bit' & blog about "How to incorporate all the looks you talk about for someone who is simple & boyish like me who doesn't think they could pull off the whole total chic thing."  Well, here ya go darlin...

The looks that I blog about are very versatile & are not set in stone!  Often time when I see styles of fashions that I am intrigued by, I only end up incorporating small features from that look into my wardrobe, but more importantly, Tailoring Them to My Personal Style! Everyone has a style. How you alter the trend to fit your personal style is how you make the style unique! My little sister's style is simple & boyish (she said it herself) so take the trends I suggest, keep the colors neutral & tailor it to you...

Perfect! Not to masculine, definitely feminine & very trendy. Thin belt, pleated skirt, solid t-shirt= simple...

Play around in the same color palette that you like. If you like browns, work with tans, beiges, cocoas & chestnuts. Try not to be so 'matchy-matchy' & the look will end up looking effortless...

Skinny jeans, a bold bomber, simple white boyfriend button-up & strappy sandals... all good looks for spring, all in neutral colors...

Statement Jackets & ankle booties, simple & stylish...

Again, if you're concerned about keeping it comfortable, yet feminine, add touches of masculinity to downplay other features.  This look is absolute perfection if you're looking to tap into both masculine & feminine; awesome combat boots & a leather bomber paired with a pink cotton dress & scarf... love!

High Waist, wide leg denim with a chiffon blouse= neutrals & 'boyish'....

If you think you want to try patterns, start with stripes, but in neutral colors.  Keep the rest of your look simple & you'll maintain your unique style...

Try bold jewelry, just try it in a neutral color palette...

If you want to keep your look 'boyish' do not forget to draw attention to the features on your body that you like! This dress is cute & simple, but with the belt cinched at her waist it looks flirty & girly...

Most importantly that I would hope that you got from this is that styles, trends & looks are NOT set in stone! Play around with fashion! Tailor it to your unique style & taste!

Coral/Apricot/Peach + Jade/Turquoise/Mint = obsession...

Most of you already know my obsession with these colors...

I cannot get enough!  But what I am loving even more is that they are easily combined for an even cooler sorbet look! Love these spaces...
