What I'm Loving Right Now...

It has been awhile since I have done a post on What I Am Loving Right Now & here is a special mid-summer edition of Top 10 with Miss Cheeky Chic...

1. Serenity of Summer
I am loving the simplicity & serenity that comes with summer.  I find it so easy to escape busy life during summer days by sneaking off to a place where I can relax without a care in the world. I love summer...

2. Authentic Native Jewelry
While I was on vacation this last week, I spent some time in the Rocky Mountains & I found a fabulous boutique with authentic native jewelry in it. I had my heart set on this gorgeous turquoise cuff & I promised a price point I would hold myself to... unfortunately the cuff price not only surpassed my budget, but surpassed it by 3x! Beautiful, nonetheless...

3. Sorbet Colored Shorts
I love the bright colors that come with the summer season! Bright colored shorts bring light to a dull outfit & can easily dress a day look to night by adding heels...

4. Peachy Pout
A fun twist on summer lip color- peach! Perfect mixed with bronzed skin & beach hair- wear in a lip stain, gloss or matte lipstick... you cannot go wrong!

5. Geode Jewelry
A trend I am loving is crystal stoned jewelry. Perfect for dramatic cocktail rings or statement necklaces, adding a nice touch to your summer wardrobe...

6. Bite Sized Snacks
You guys already know my obsession with chocolate & I love new fun recipes & I came across this one & it seemed too easy not to share!  Simply use pretzel squares/circles, a chocolate kiss, & peanut butter m&m's!! Keep chilled & serve cool...

7. Cuffed Sandals
This style is perfectly casual & a fun twist on the summer sandal.  Cute paired with shorts & even looks great with leggings too...

8. Michael Kors Matte Ebony Watch
Omg... How simple & Chic is this!?!

9.  Michael Kors All-In-One wristlet
Again, Kors has me drooling over his pretty little accessories!  This is perfect for on the go & running errands! I cannot tell you how many times I've dropped my iphone because I am carrying my keys, phone & wallet- all stacked in 1 hand while running errands.  This is perfect...

10. Louis Vuitton Speedy Gets a Shoulder Strap!!
So happy to see that the smaller speedy's have finally gotten a shoulder strap! When I got my first Speedy 25, that was the first thing I thought about... why is there no shoulder strap option on this cute little handbag?! Perfect for the chic girl on the go...

Don't forget...

Much love,  K

Emulate Fashionista Style...

One question that I often get asked is, What fashionistas inspire my style?  When I first started blogging, I posted about my adoration for Olivia Palermo's classic street style.  She continues to marvel me with her crisp trends & clean style.

Here are some of my more recent favorite summer styles of Olivia's...

Every look has 1 or 2 focal points of the entire style.  When people ask how you even begin emulating a fashion icon's style, I always start at the focal point & the rest I try to make my own unique personal style.  I will teach you how to follow your own favorite fashionista's style...

First, Find the Focal Point of the Overall Outfit:
(i.e. What are your eyes drawn to?)

Now, build a look around that piece.  This first picture is a more casual street style,  possibly intended for morning errands & coffee.  Dress up this easy going style, with a chunky statement necklace & keep the rest of the outfit simple:

When I saw this next picture, I immediately was drawn to Olivia's scalloped shorts:

Since this was more of formal chic style, keep the fabrics that you choose that way as well.  Stick to silk or chiffon, something with a sheer finish.  Then, dress up your accessories & it will tie the entire look together.

Without a doubt, I was immediately drawn to Olivia's bright blazer & less dramatic color blocking style. A stylish look, intended for a flashy night out.

Reproducing this style is always my favorite, because you almost cannot go wrong.  Like I have said before adding colors to your night time look, is not only chic but very mod.  It is a fun look to play around with, because not only are you able to block different brights, but you are also able to mix & match different fabrics & accessories!

One summer style that I have not spent as much time blogging about, but I absolutely adore, is patterned blouses!  The ornate structure is perfect for summer & bring personality to your overall look.

Play around with patterns.  See which patterns look best on you.  Do you like florals, animal print, dots & stripes, etc...?  Choose a pattern that brings you to life & add pops of color for accessories!

Now that I have shared my obsession love for Olivia & how I try to emulate her street style, I am dying to hear who you all love as your fashionista?!

Splurge or Save...

Unfortunately, I have to admit my obsession with Nordstrom (more specifically- 'First Floor' at Mall of America- Nordstrom).  I often code name it just that, First Floor, because it is where all the heavenly goodness lies.  My weakness for shoes, skincare, jewelry, handbags, sunglasses, & any other imaginable designer accessory... reside on this floor & I am a frequent window shopper of this department.

I perused First Floor  yesterday & euphoria came over my body! So much summer time couture, all in one place, I could not help but share My 10 Favorite Items from First Floor...

1. Stuart Weitzman Animal Print Espadrille (drooling...)

2. Helen Kaminski Woven Hat
Perfect paired with a bright colored cover-up on a luxurious boat cruise...

3. Diane Von Furstenburg Chiffon Floral Scarf
Add life to a sundress on those chillier evenings or even tie around your free-flowing locks as a wrap...

4. Burberry Neon Leather Double Wrap Belt
Loving the double layers, perfect for summer, I cannot get enough neon...

5. Lodis Smartphone Case
Forget your typical wristlet- opt for a phone case! Slick enough for the necessities on-the-go: phone, lipgloss, credit card...

6. Swarovski Blue Tinted Aviator Sunglasses
I am adoring 'blue-tint' right now & embellished sides are even better...

7. Fendi Ceramic Abalone Watch
omg. enough said.

8. Kate Spade Flat Black Embellished Sandal
Quintessential to dressing up any summer look...

9. Marc Jacobs Ivory Quilted Cross-body Handbag
Eternally chic, quilted & chained... a staple item for your closet...

10. Alexis Bittar Bone Adorned Statement Necklace
My love for statement necklaces continues! I especially love to bone hooked clasp...

So where the issue lies is when to Splurge or when to Save?  Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate an amazing piece of design couture & never question why the price is so expensive, simple because I just enjoy it as art to admire and not take home.  I love fashion & it is my 'art' but often times my art & bank account do not coincide.  Perfect for a girl like me, because I get a thrill off of finding similar pieces at a much more affordable price. So let's try this again...

So don't be afraid to shop around! Saving $ means having more $ to spend on other fashionable goodness!!

Retro Trend by the Stars: Rompers...

A style that I have been following since the end of last summer has been the revamped, retro romper!  Made famously by those stars more in-tuned to their bohemian/retro side, this trend will be seen everywhere this summer.  The best part about a romper is that it's the ease of a sundress, yet the casualness of simple shorts & a tank.  It is a trend that looks great on all body types, you just have to style it properly to yours...

Here are a few different styled rompers for you to try, all at reasonable prices for a new trend:

If rompers are new to your wardrobe, try a floral print to ease you into this new trend.  A floral pattern is flirty & chic & does not require as much attention to detail...

(Forever 21: $19.80)

If you are concerned about styling to your particular body figure, but are also new to using belts as attention to detail accessories, try something with a 'tie waist.'  This will allow you the ease of a belt as well as give you the desired shape you are looking for...

(Anthropologie: $49.95)

If you are looking to use a romper for more of a night style, find a dramatic neckline to play up the appeal.  For instance, this one shoulder ruffle in a beautiful emerald would be perfect for an evening look, paired with a skinny braided belt & woven wedges!

(Top Shop $26)

A romper trend more famously made by the Kardashian sisters has been the full pant legged romper.  A style that I originally pinned for those tall & thin, but quickly dubbed wrong after I saw how gorgeous Khloe Kardashian looked when she rocked a similar style.  As you all know, Khloe has height & beautiful curves & she made the style look flawless by tailoring it to her body shape.  She cinched at the right places & drew shape where need be.

(Asos: $73.86)

Since denim is so popular right now, I could not leave out a denim romper! Definitely a more casual style, but still tying feminine & masculine features together, which I love.

(Nordstrom: $58)

Bring the whole look together...
